The vuelto

Every ticket tells you what you keep.

Vuelto is Argentine for the change you get back. On every ticket, the lime vuelto slip shows how much less a bed costs than the typical price for that kind of place in its barrio, measured across the whole search. It's a real saving against real neighbours, not an inflated "was" price.

Opinionated, on purpose

Not every bed. The ones worth it.

Most booking sites show you everything and let you sort it out. Untethered doesn't pretend to be neutral about Buenos Aires. It's built from the founder's own stays in the city, and it ranks the way they would choose:

  • Where to sleep. The map starts in Palermo Soho, around Plaza Armenia, and "best match" leans towards wherever you're looking.
  • Places they've tried. Hostels the founder liked get a boost. The ones they wouldn't go back to always sit last, with a broken heart.
  • What's a fair price. Your vuelto is measured against the typical price in the barrio, so a good deal stands out and a tourist price doesn't hide.
  • What to avoid. Recent reviews that mention bedbugs, theft or cockroaches are flagged, and you can add your own excludes: type any words ("noisy", "mould", "no lockers") and places whose recent reviews mention them drop out.
